HOLIDAY SPARKLER

I realize it’s only Tuesday, but I’m a gal who likes to plan ahead. It’s the only way to get through the holidays without losing our minds!

Accordingly, I suggest keeping this recipe in your jolly plaid pocket. Whether hosting cocktail hour before heading out for the evening or greeting guests upon dinner party arrival, this festive sparkler is an easy-to-assemble crowd pleaser.

HOLIDAY SPARKLER

For a make-ahead option, multiply the vodka, juice, vermouth, and liqueur for your preferred number of cocktails and pour into a pitcher. Chill thoroughly, skipping the cocktail shaker. When guests arrive, pour into coupe or cocktail glasses, top with bubbles, and garnish with rosemary.

Thoughtful hosting tip: Keep a bottle of zero-alcohol sparkling grape juice or best-quality ginger ale at the ready to mix with the juice for guests who are abstaining or simply slowing their roll. Add a decent splash of Seedlip Garden to the glass for a lovely (and alcohol-free) herbal note.

INGREDIENTS

·      1 ounce vodka

·      2 ounces chilled, unsweetened pomegranate or cranberry juice

· 1/4 ounce sweet vermouth (I recommend Dolin Rouge—it’s on the drier side)

·      1/4 ounce Chambord or Framboise raspberry liqueur

·      Chilled Champagne, prosecco, or cava

·      Rosemary or fresh raspberries, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

1.     Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

2.     Pour in vodka, juice, vermouth, and raspberry liqueur. Cover and shake vigorously until shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.

3.     Strain into a cocktail or coupe glass. Top with champagne, prosecco, or cava.

4.     Garnish with a sprig of rosemary or a few raspberries.
